ABOUT PDXFS
Portland Fashion Synergy (PDXFS) is a non-profit organization that was founded in August 2008.

PDXFS strives to establish Portland as a fashion capital with a unique design vision and attitude, which attracts and cultivates sophisticated, cutting edge designers.

PDXFS serves current and next generation apparel industry professionals through educational programs and events that create and expand business opportunities and support a thriving and sustainable apparel industry in Portland, Oregon.

Primary focus areas include: educating the public about fashion design and production, promoting the art of fashion by conducting annual fashion shows or benefit dinners to showcase up and coming designers, sponsoring internships and scholarships, industry-wide relationship building and collaboration, professional development and mentoring, and international student exchange programs.

INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION
This position requires an extremely well-organized individual that wants to learn business development, marketing, events and public relations. Our fast-paced ever-changing environment needs a motivated self-starter with multi-task abilities who is extremely detail oriented and organized. Excellent written, verbal, and phone communication skills a must. Must be proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Internet research and Outlook.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Include, but not limited to:
• Coordinate and collate all necessary information for media contacts in various markets
• Handle basic administrative tasks for the marketing, events and public relations team
• Assist team on projects including proof reading press releases, updating press materials, and distribution to journalists/editors
• Research and coordinate travel arrangements and schedules
• Monitor and clip media coverage; develop and distribute clip reports
• Manage media database and compile target media lists
• Assist onsite event and vendor management and event coordination
• Marketing and social media development via blog, twitter, facebook, etc.
• Research and implement education and membership development programs

QUALIFICATIONS
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
• Must have own computer, cell phone and car
• Must be a “self-starter” as well as work in a group project environment
• Must be able to organize and schedule a high workload, efficiently
• Must be able to communicate effectively with others (clients, staff, management, vendors, etc.)
• Must have attention to detail
• Must have a desire to learn and take initiative
• Candidate must be able to work at least 2 or 3 days per week; approximately 15 – 20 hours per week
• The duration of the internship is 3-6 months
• Candidate who works hard and knows how to have fun!
